PRESS RELEASE

PRESIDENT OF WORLD ROMA ORGANIZATION AND AMBASSADOR FOR PEACE JOVAN DAMJANOVIC ON THE INTERNATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY OF ROMA GENOCIDE IN WORLD WAR II

On December 16th, 1942, Heinrich Himmler instructed German police to bring all Roma to concentration camps for their liquidation. Deportation lasted till half of 1945, and its consequence was the death of approximately half of a million of Roma people, all from Europe.

WRO President and Ambassador for Peace Jovan Damjanovic considers this kind of evil act never to be forgotten, and that history teaches us not to repeat the same mistakes again.

″Luckily, Roma Genocide in World War II didn' t complete its task. Roma still live, create and leave their marks all over the world. Let us be eternelly proud, and let us place Roma community on a cultural, economical and social level it deserves.

Eternal glory to the victims, let them rest in peace!‶ - said the President of the Wold Roma Organization and Ambassador for Peace Jovan Damjanovic.
